Mepps Comet Combo?

Featured Replies

Probably already been threads on this but do you use the Mepps Comet Combo with a Mr Twister Curlytail? What are you fav size and colors? Thanks.

I haven't seen those - have original Comets that work good. I might have to dig some money out of the couch and get a couple to try.

#3 black/yellow *et

but if you're headed the Mepps route, a #3 dressed Black Fury in yellow (not chartreuse) cant be beat

The Comet Minnow was always a fish catcher. A friend of mine only ever owned a spincasting rod, a small metal tackle box and about 3 dozen Mepps Minnows of all sizes and that was all, the only lure he used. He caught all kinds of fish with them. I figure the Comet Combo ought to be popular too.

Yep! Its a great lure!

I have a bunch of them in various sizes, up to about 3" long (body).  Have never caught a fish on them.

Maybe when I move to Oregon, lol.

I once won a tournament on a Mepps Comet Mino lure.  The bass were schooling and they ate it up.

I don't fish the Comet, but I do make my own inlines with 3"-5" plastics attached either open hook, or twist-lock t-rigged.  I like #3 and #4 blades, Straight or split tail BA type plastics are my favorite. I originally built them as pike and pickerel lures, and bass started biting them regularly.
