Humminbird PiranhaMAX 190c Fishfinder...good??

Featured Replies

im looking to get one of these for the front of my boat with the sensor monted to the TM. does anyone know if these are good units OR is there a color FF thats better in that price range?

OR is the B&W piranhamax 170 just as good?

SK, I have the 170 on my front Tm and it serves it's purpose. The only thing I don't like about it is the screen size which is to small. I don't need all the bell's and whistles. I have a friend who the 190 color at the wheel the color makes it confusing for me to watch but he likes it. Once again screen is a little to small. But for the cost their not to bad.

When you get a sonar unit and want to have the transducer on the trolling motor, do not open the package in the box with the supplied transducer in it. Exchange it for the trolling motor pod type so you won't have to deal with a future broken transducer or mounting bracket.

Exchange it? how? or do you mean not use the regular mount and go buy a TM mont?

Lowrance and Humminbird have an exchange program so you can have the correct transducer for your application. Just contact whichever company you purchase from. Some dealers will handle that for you in-house. If you place an order for the unit you can specify the transducer supplied.

ok i ended up getting the 190c. looking at the two side by side i liked the clarity of the 190c screen much better. the fuzziness of the 170 was making my eyes crazy. so i hope the 190c performs well on the lake..
