JamesWatkins
My grandparents live near a quarry pond in south Wisconsin, it’s full of trout and a few bass, it’s pretty deep and the bass absolutely love to eat the trout in there. Once I caught one that was 6 lbs on the scale, and I have seen some that I believe to be way bigger! Is it possible that there could be an 8-9 lber in there? I mean I know Wisconsin is cold but the bass there have the right forage and the right cool depths to sit in in the hot summer, and they only come out of the depths in the spring to spawn. Do any of you guys think there could be a 8 lber or bigger in there? Let me know and feel free to ask about specifications on the biology on the pond and other details. Smokinal
If you've caught a 6, I'd bet you dinner for a week that there's an 8 in there somewhere. That said, Wis record is 11-3; not saying there's one of those in there though.

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted April 27, 2021 Global Moderator Share Posted April 27, 2021 A lot of it could be timing also. If you have an 8/9 pound fish, that then eats a few 1lb trout as a fish that size is capable of doing, and then you catch it, you've just caught an 11lb bass with an 8lbers frame but that wouldn't matter when getting it certified. The fact that there's not a lot of bass increases the chance of there being a giant since there won't be as much competition.
