fish finder or metal detector

Featured Replies

I have a fish finder/gps that is so good it marks fish 17 feet deep. The problem is I'm in 14 feet of water.

I didn't mention the make or model  'cause I don't want them to get a bad rap if it's something I'm doing wrong with the installation or set up.

Any ideas??

If you have messed with the settings reset it to factory defaults. Sounds like you are seeing a double ehco.

I had the same problem on my old unit.

x2 on what Jack said.

The transducer could be crooked.  But sounds more like what was explained above.  While I don't use factory defaults at all, that may be a good place to start over from.

X2 on resetting to factory default settings.

Also, are you running more than one fish finder?  If so, try setting your ping speeds different on each unit, it may be picking up the ping from the other one giving you false readings.

Thanks guys--"will do" on the default settings.

I do have a tendency to "tweak" too much.
