Can’t catch anything south shore MA

Featured Replies

So I’ve posted here before about not catching  anything and sadly my luck hasn’t changed much. Except for 1 bass I caught on a frog in heavy lily pads I’ve got nothing. I can catch fish on live bait all day long but any artificial lures… nothing. Just don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I’m bank fishing on the south shore of MA. Hanson, pembroke, Hanover mostly. Anything would help, just about to hang it up and find a new hobby.

Not a lot of bank fishing options in that area. Get a kayak, it will open up a whole new world!

Take a drive down to Hedges Pond in Plymouth.  It's a 20 acre kettle you can wade almost all the way around.  You'll find Smallmouth and Yellow Perch. Start with a soft bait like a Ned/Senko and work your way to Jerkbaits/Squarebills/Lipless.

From Labor to Memorial Day there's an employee at the gate and you need a town sticker to park there.  I've never had an issue parking there later in the afternoon when nobody's there.  The gate's not manned in the Fall/Winter/Spring.

In the mean time, fish your artificial baits so they mimic the live baits you're successful with.  That should help.

You might also fish Stetson Pond, Luddham Ford Pond, and Jacobs Pond.  They offer some bank fishing locations.

Here's some more reading for you:

I’d fish a rapala,  Senko, a popper or spook. Tons of great spots. You could hit and shore bang multiple spots.  Try and learn each spot you’re fishin. Some places they love certain lures.  Most of my bass fishing is from shore
