Buzzbait blade cupping

Hey ya’ll,

question for clarification. Was doing some reading and saw that people recommended cupping a buzzbait’s blades inward in order to allow the buzzbait go slower. Trying to get a visual sense of what they mean. So a buzzbait blade has opposing folds on either side of the blade. Looks like they are bent at about a 90 degree on most. So does ‘cupping’ inwards mean decreasing this angle to a lesser one? Like bending these opposing folds so they bend closer to the rest of the blade? So hard to explain what I mean in words. Hopefully ya’ll get it :).

That's what I think when you say cupping it inwards.  I would think that folding the blades out would make the buzzbait go slower since there is more surface area that the blades catch.

Yes you would want to increase the curl of the blade to 'grab' more water as it turns not bend them out.

I remember a long time ago reading an article a Zell Rowland was explaining how he would cup the blades more. His technique was to use something like the diameter of a BIC pen.

Ya know, I don't even know if those pens are still being made?
