I admit the August no bite is now in force. 3 bumps during a 9 am to 10 am cruise.

They are well fed and not going to bite if it does not act or smell correct.  Even  the suspended groups of all sizes show no interest. thick overcast.

Time to use cut up perch & catch a bunch again.   ?

The water surface temperature is great at 68 F.  They are just tired of paying the price of Catch & Release anymore. Deep water GOBIE time only.  I am guessing.  They even left a very popular bottom spot were all fish are plump when caught there.   Only 8.5' deep & shaded till 10 am.

I will go to different places that are reached only by ROWING with oars. The weeds are that thick protecting the fish from boaters.

The waters are changing.

The good news is no dead fish floating.  ...........But Clayton had ANOTHER BASS contest last weekend.  The contests sure will destroy the excellent Clayton fishery was rated at # 19 in the country.

It is all about MONEY.   Nothing else.  After they destroy Clayton they have the next place already selected,.

Oh well

Hmm...

The tournaments  here in the Mid South have no impact on the fisheries. For the most part that

is the case across the country. For most fishermen the issue is boat traffic. I like to fish on week

days.

We don't have an August "no bite". The problems now is the high/dirty water and the hordes of tubers.

Saturday I finished fishing before the floaters hit the river. The water was high enough that I decided to just motor back up the where I had put in instead of going down river and getting the other car.

The floaters were so thick that I almost couldn't get up river. They literally just block the river. You could almost walk across the river stepping from one tube to the next.

Sunday I put in down river and just motored up to fish. I was done and out before any floaters got to me. I never saw another soul on the river but the parking lot was full when I loaded the boat.

River tubing is making a comeback on the Delaware also. I no longer fish it due to no weed areas anymore.  The death is from tiny pebbles from the road drainage systems.

Trolling and drift fishing from the bank back to the boat is producing nothing? Not even smaller Bass? Not even crankbait reaction strikes from juvenile fish. Generally smaller Bass will hold to the bank and related structure there even if only small amounts of rocks.

I don’t know the water you are talking about so no use me pretending to come off as any expert. I realize you, me and the next guy are not out to catch small fish. But I find as the water depth starts to drop off bigger smallies will lay in those areas.

I guess a lot of your bigger fish relate themselves to the lake. But have to believe the river sections have to have Smallies that take up residency there as well. Every Smallie can’t be 4 lb or nothing.

Don’t know the area, but keep fishing hard. You’ll make something happen.

I like the evening bite with smallies, since LM and SM live together in both water bodies I fish regular I have yet to alter lure size. Son caught a smallie last night on a 110 whopper plopper and he was 7" long. I can tell right away if its a smallie that hits....they fight like crazy and really move in the water even against the drag. The water temps have dropped with all the rain and 50 degree nights. Evening and night turn things on........
