Fishing black water

Featured Replies

Anyone have any tips for fishing black water ponds? I have good luck in clearer water but a lot of the ponds around me are black or very dark. Not just stained or muddy but like pitch black.

That’s about all I fish. Normally black water is only tinted dark, and the fish are used to it. I’ve caught on green pumpkin trick worms, but normally throw black/JB Ol monsters. Rage bugs good too. Spinner baits should also produce. Flukes too.

basically anything that works anywhere else too.

im assuming this is a cypress swamp, in those places the cypress trunks rule everything. Cast accurately and cover water. Take note of what trees produce bites, especially if it’s a good fish.
