has the drought noticeably lowered Mille Lacs ?

Featured Replies

I am planning a short trip to Mille Lacs after Labor Day and was wondering if the lack of rain has brought out any navigation hazards or has it been basically unaffected ?

I have not been up there since about the 4th of July, but my folks have, most recently earlier in August.  The lake is was down about 18 inches from last year earlier this month.  Some of the accesses were not usable with a sizable boat.  They have a Warrior 2090.

We have received a significant amount of rain in the past week so I assume it has come up some.

Im also headed there for a few days towards end of September. Hopefully the fish cooperate!

I've been on it once.  Going to fix that this fall.  Used the Garrison launch last November and it was super shallow then, can't imagine it will work now.  Where would you launch?

Just realized my avatar is the Garrison launch, lol

Terry’s just south of Garrison is still plenty good. It’s a private ramp so there will be a fee but I can confirm it’s the best one around on the west wide. Do not use Shah Bush Kung just north of the casino. It’s way too shallow.

On the east side I would try Liberty Beach or Hunters Point Resort. Isle public access and Cedar Creek are too shallow.

I like to be able to launch at different ramps based on the wind direction and speed so I think I may head to a different lake. Even though its a bit longer, I think I may go North to the Women Lake area. There seems to be several lakes that should supply plenty of action.

Thank you for the insight.
