I live in Orange County (So Cal). I’m looking for some cool people to go fishing with. If you’re cool hit me up.

Born and raised in La Mirada, but as close as that is, you can only see cool from there because it's only O.C. adjacent, thus not actually cool.

I’m actually in Whittier and fish La Mirada Regional all the time.

The golf course pond across the street and La Mirada Regional park are where I did most of my fishing as a youth. I grew up within easy walking distance from Regional. The rest of my family still lives there.

You didn’t get hassled by the golf course employees? I’m always tempted to hop the fence but just didn’t want to be “that guy”.

You ever fish Legg lake, if you have, been there lately.?

I haven’t. I’m getting tired of these like city ponds. They are all over fished and regardless of the setup I use I rarely get a bite. I might go check Legg out this week since I’ve never been. I’ll keep you posted on the outcome.

I use to fish there 2 or 3 times a week. There are some good sized bass in those lakes. Haven't fished there in 5 years or so, but might make a trip there when I get my truck outta the shop.

Santa Fe Dam lake has bass fishing.

If you can meet someone who has access to the rock quarry lakes west of the Santa Fe dam across the 605 fwy they have outstanding bass fishing. I no longer have access.

Puddingston is about a 30 minute drive and offers bass fishing.

Of course I can't suggest that anyone fish illegally and we live in different times now, so I'm not sure they would still just holler at you. We did occasionally get hassled, but please note that this was when I was a teenager. . . . . and I will turn (gulp) 63 in October. I think they keep the reeds mostly chopped down these days and they provided necessary cover for anglers and fish alike, LOL.

There also used to be a small reservoir at the corner of Santa Gertrudes and Foster Road (also on the golf course property) that most people did not know existed, but I think it is gone and is now just the maintenance yard for the golf course. That had some huge bass and gigantic bluegill as well, but it was . . . . more difficult. . . . to fish there.

I guess I'm darn near a fossil myself. I remember when La Mirada Regional Park was built. We used to ride dirt bikes in the field before it was a park. I know they have bass there, but there are also other options near there **cough** Clark Park **cough** that may produce better. Regional gets absolutely pounded, especially when they provide a meager sprinkling of tiny trout for the put and take crowd.

Still, the bass fishing in suburban park lakes in the area is generally kinda grim most of the time. I would view it as practice for the times when you can make it to one of the local lakes. There are people that regularly do OK (some even better than OK) fishing from shore at Castaic, even off the face of the dam.

True, and you can fish from a boat on both of those lakes. I would go to Puddingstone before driving even further to Santa Fe Dam. But you'll have to pay to park at both of those places and night fishing isn't allowed that I am aware of.

Those pit mine lakes next to the freeway have always intrigued me. . . . but I don't think you could ever hope to fish in there these days.

There is also a small lake called Mungi Lake just west of the 605 that looks like it would have some killer bass habitat. I only fished there once for a couple hours, but it might be worth a look.

I worked for a company installing conveyor belts in each and everyone of those quarry’s. There are some record size fish in all of them but even the guys that work at the quarry aren’t even allowed to fish them anymore. MSHA, OSHA and the on-site safety guys have put a stop to it. It’s my understanding that guys were going down there off shift with beer and fishing gear and ruined it for everyone. I still know the gate code to get in at two of the bigger quarry’s and it’s tempting but I plan on keeping my criminal record clean. Lol

I realize this is old, but just out of curiosity, isn't this the park that has the 27 hole Disc-Golf course?  I used to play disc golf there all the time, didn't realize it was ok to fish.  What have you caught there?

Yes, it is the same park with what we called the 'Frisbee Golf' course.
