G Loomis Frog Rod - 884c vs 885c?

Been in the market for one. Anyone have any experience with both?

Sometimes that 5 power can be a real pool cue with Loomis rods. Wondering how this one stacks up. Thanks in advance!

I have experience with both, They are not frog rods, You need a 6 power for frogging, specially you are here in SoCal. If you watch clips from pros on internet, they might tell you moderate action 5 power 7' to 7'4" with 40lb or 50lb braid. But honestly it will not work in SoCal, You need 6 power 8' fast action with 65lb test braid wit a solid body reel(I have curado DC). If you do that you'll enjoy casting that frog and setting hook big bass.

Plus you dont want to spend so much on a frog rod, We all know that sensitivity have no place in frog fishing, I have lots of G-Loomis rods but my frog rod is Shimano  curado.

A good option and well under the Loomis price point, but fishes well above it's price point is the Irod Fred's Magic Stick. Like all Irod's they get great reviews, priced at $ 150.00. Oh and customer service is next to none, Matt is very customer oriented.

Awesome. Thank you. I’ve been hearing great things about Irod’s, especially for that price point!

No, I have CDC80XH 3 to 6oz, I am using it for frogging and also for Swavers and all the big Sebille for stripers. Anything below 6oz or 6" to 8" soft swimbaits like paddle tails and stuff.

Anything higher than that ill use my swimbait rod.
