Could I do this?

Featured Replies

Can I fish a bait that weighs 1-1/4 oz on a rod rated for 1oz?

Should I?

Yes.  Simply use a lob cast.

Sure you can!

Just joking with you!  You might not like the action/performance of the rod but if you use your head you won't damage it.

You’ll probably be just fine but be aware. Some rods rated for 1oz would have no problem with 1.5oz or might be stressed with 3/4oz. It all depends on the rod. Just take it easy at first before you start bombing your casts.

Funny question. Cause you answered it yourself when you said a rod rated for 1oz…

Guess you’ll find out.
