Finesse crappie baits and rods

Featured Replies

So I was wondering has anyone or anybody know anything else about using the Rapala Ultra Light Baits and how to use them instead of trolling behind a boat. What type of rod would best suit the method and bait so whom ever doesn’t have a boat or kayak can fish from shore? I have been looking a lot and haven’t seen a video of how to use these baits properly and shown how to work these baits with reeling speed? Can anybody help here? Recommendations?

How to fish? They're just down-sized crank and jerkbaits

What to use? I'd toss them on my ML/MF spinning rig - Mitchell Avocet RZT-2000 on an Okuma Reflexions 7'0" ML/MF rod, 8# InvizX.

That's the rig I toss most of my cranks/jerks that are 3/16oz or less on

Including:

Rapala Original Floating 03 & 07

Rapala Husky Jerk 06

Berkley Frenzy Flicker Shad #5

   I am a shorecaster.

I have 2 rigs that would work well with those .... and others like them. One is a 7' Fenwick Eagle Ultralight with a Shimano Nasci 1000 reel, and the other is a 7'-02" Fenwick River Runner, L/MF with a Shimano Stradic Ci4+ 2500 FA.

Both reels have 4 lb. line on them.        jj

Anyone else?

I have them but haven’t had much luck.

I’m a plain old jig and plastic as my go-to and will go to a beetle spin if I’m trying to get a more aggressive technique.

I've used them for trout but can't remember every catching a crappie with them. Jigs or suspending jerkbaits are always more successful for me when casting for crappie than crankbaits are.
