Well Fishing Season Over For a Month Now and Deer season opens Saturday

Featured Replies

Fall is here up in Maine, boats all cleaned up and winterized and now I shift into hunting mode. Leaves are almost all down and we've had some cold weather already, my how the summer flies by! Fall is my favorite time though........leaf color, crisp air, geese going over house in large v-formations. Don't know how much longer we'll be able to dress and eat deer, our fish and game is telling us to avoid any head and neck handling.......long gloves and safe disposal of head and internals. How will this work I wonder. Only a few seasons left for me, can't see me climbing up in trees and dragging deer for that much longer. Feel bad for my son and the younger generations.

Good Hunting to all and stay safe!     Dave

Deer Hunting Season is a big deal up here as well and although I will not be in the woods stalking deer, I will welcome the now even less bassheads on the water while I hunt late season brown bass.

Weather is always a little sketchy in Oct / Nov but when the opportunity presents itself,

I am so there.

Like tomorrow for instance.

Good Luck out there and stay safe.

Same here Dave.  Last outing was yesterday and took the boat in to get winterized when I was done.  Firearms deer season will start here in 11 days and I'll be spending all or most of the 9-day season in my stand waiting.  After that it will be pheasant hunting until the end of December.  And then...winter.

Transported the new duck blind out to the river last weekend...duck and goose season starts Saturday.  Deer rifle season is November 13 through 21st.

My boat still ready to roll if the weather warms up...it's been 30's at night, and 50's during the day...

Yeah its gonna be a cold winter they say.....but what do "they" know? The water up here is still major high and rivers are running fast as well. Good hunting and fishing for all as we slip into fall.   Dave

Complete opposite here.  Rivers and lakes are still very low.  Like all-time historic low because of our drought.  And honestly, the chances of having a harsh winter with months of bitter cold temps and tons of snow is low.  We are much more likely to have a mild one with minimal stretches of cold and average amount of snow.  Last winter we literally only had about 2 weeks of "winter" temps the entire winter (in February).  Ice was out weeks early too.
