I have made a couple posts about this guy and the impact NIL is going to have on NCAA football. Here is yet another example of how it is going to ruin the game. With the new transfer rule and the new NIL rule, college football is a thing of the past. Just look at Lincoln Riley and Brian Kelly leaving, along with so many commitments flipping. It's out of control. This kid made over a million dollars and never played a meaningful snap and is now searching for a new team. IMHO, this is getting out of control.

Seriously though, I have mixed feelings about it. They’re getting a very expensive education for free. On the flip side these school are making ridiculous money off from these kids. 
 

Sports in general is getting crazy with the amount of money teams (sponsors in this case) are shoveling out on unproven talent and look at the deal Max Scherzer just signed. The guy is a great pitcher but he’s now 37, that’s a big chunk of change for someone at the end of their career. 

I read the average NIL amount is something like $70 a month. That seems fair.

 

In my opinion, the portal is what’s changing college football. It causes parity which is great for ratings because the games are closer due to teams like Bama, Clemson Ohio State not being able to run away from the pack. 
 

Downside. I have 3 kids now that are either FCS or D2 players. 95% of the schools I talk to said they’re waiting on the portal to see if they can land a D1 kid first. 
 

It’ll take two more seasons to balance out I think 

Free agency has come to College football, by way of the portal.  

 

NIL will change things a little...raise your hand if you believed colleges were not paying players in the past (yea, RIGHT!). 

 

The big name, blue-blood schools with large alumni bases will exploit NIL and the transfer portal...the rich will get richer.  Is what it is...
