What is a tactical bass rod?

If Matt or Tim recommends it, it's tactical?

I'm behind the times here. St Croixs Victory model is a 6'10 med spin rod. You could use this one for all kinds of stuff.

You should probably only use that rod for "tactical" fishing.  :D

Answered your own question. TFO has an entire lineup in their Tactical Elite Bass series of rods, and St. Croix has one in their Victory series, all of which have military-style or themed names. ‘Tactical’ is defined as, “relating to or constituting actions carefully planned to gain a specific military end,” so they are just taking a spin on technique specific rods via marketing and using a word that creates some mental image of specialized superiority (all IMHO).

And there are many who will buy it to complement their tactical pants, sunglasses, flashlights, and cordless shavers.

I've heard that whole style referred to as "Tacti-cool"

I feel like tactical just means it’s black, maybe with some gray or camo. Take a blue rod but release it in a limited black run and now it’s “tactical.” Clever marketing I guess
