Large Chatterbait - Buy or Build...Help

Featured Replies

I want to build or buy a big bladed chatterbait.  Like 2 inches or bigger with a 7/0 hook.  How do I get the thin metal to just cut and make my own. Musky size for BIG bass.  Ideas?

They make XL sized blades. I make mine on a 3/4 or 1oz poison head with an 8/0 hook. This a comparison picture next to a standard 3/8oz bait that I made.

Z-man introduced a large version late last summer.  Its the Z-man Big Blade chatterbait.  I bought a 1/2 oz version and gave it a try for about an hour before the season ended but didn't get anything to bite on it.  It has a really noticeable slow deep "thump" to it.  If you reel it too fast, it rises up like most chatterbaits.  The key is to reel it slow.  I intend to give it more time next season and I'm convinced a muskie would eat it too.
