I am deciding between getting either the Savage Gear Pulse Tail BlueGill RTF or the LT the difference is the one is weedless which would be a no brainer but I’m worried the hookup ratio won’t be as good. What do y’all think? Here they both are: or 

I have both, the jighook model has a much better hookup ratio. 

Any hook with crushed or ground down barbs does best for me.

Do you catch a lot of fish in them? I’ve been wanting to add a small bluegill swimbait to the Arsenal and can’t decide weather to get the savage gear or the mattlures u2

I love them, great little bait. The weedless model gets tons of bites but hookups can be difficult at times. Hard to tell if it's the bait or just small fish. I bent the hook slightly, sharpened it, and added slippery sent and it seemed to help a bit. They're durable and the swim is great. I've about worn out the first weedless one but got a couple replacements for it. They either were going to or already have released a crappie pattern that I'll be picking up for sure.

I have never ground down a barb on a hook and I've never been to the ER.  I'll happily release any fish I catch but I'm not going to actively reduce my chances of keeping that big one on the line either....

Sweet definitely gonna pick up a few for spring fishing, I’m guessing our lakes/fish are pretty similar.

I have both and a very simple answer. 

 

The one with the exposed hook has better hookup ratio but snags more stuff.

The one with the weedless hook has less hookup ratio but does not snag as much stuff. 

Have only used them for 1 season, they have good action and hold up well. 

Been throwing mine on a frog rod.
