My first cast with BFS was surprisingly disappointing. Haha.

FTB to me is a little more fiddly when it comes to windy conditions, but on the flip side I feel I can achieve greater distance with it when necessary.  That said, SV spools can be tuned with different inductor springs to open them up a bit and be able to attain respectable distance.  Personally, I'm usually fishing close quarters so I'm not too concerned about distance.  The inductor spring from a TD-Z Type R+ really opens up the SV spools.

When a click-pawl reel goes off, you always get strange looks from the guy nearby who just stepped out of the LL Bean catalog.

BFS my 1st bass casting rod, reel and line fits today’s description. Langley 340 Target 4.0 oz Free spool reel, drilled light weight aluminum spool, 50 yards of 8 lb Dacron braid on a Connolin Feather Lite 5’6” rod....1955. I changed the reel to Langley 330 Lure Cast with a level wind weight 4.12 oz, easier to use but no free spool.

All my tackle used light line on my reels and rods, except big swimbaits.

<<<<<all 5 giant jig bass caught using 10lb and 12 lb mono.

I think BFS is appropriate for the average size bass, give the bass a chance to fight harder.
