Curado 300K Gear Ratio Question

Featured Replies

I'm looking to buying one but not sure if I should get the 6.6:1(35 IPT) or the 4.7:1 (25 IPT) for all around swimbait reel.

I have the 300E it has 28 IPT and the gear ratio is good. Just not sure about this newer 300, seems one gear is too fast and the other is too low. I've picked up a 300K and like the palming better than on the 300E, so reason I am looking at this reel for swimbaits.

I have the 300k in 6.6:1 and almost exclusively fish 7-8" glides with it.  I do have to reel consciously slow on the retrieve, but I've enjoyed the line pick up while getting them to the boat.  If I had to do it again, I'm 60/40 I'd stay with the same decision.

Some guys like faster line pick up with specific baits, I've heard slow is better for bucktail/spinner type baits and faster for swimbaits. I might have that backwards though but you get the point.

Hmm, maybe it's best just to stick with my 300E and pass on the 300K

I'm roughly 15 - 2 shimano over diawa, but the Tat 300 seems way better than the 300k to me.
