my Career is now putting me in the California Delta!!

I have to replace an aging bridge.  this thing is in the most remote spot on the delta I have ever seen!!  I was eyeballing my gas gauge the entire drive.  it's FAR!!  I found my bridge.  I walked around and my heart-rate got faster!  the place is stunning.  standing on the old bridge, I could see thru the clear water into "future" bedding areas.  blown down trees in the water.  rip rap, tule, undercut banks..small islands.  it had it all.  and it is very hidden.  I hope it is sheltered from the wind somewhat.  I found a tiny marina with no customers.  I went in and the owner was so friendly.  I did notice him slip his handgun back onto the table. haha.  I talked to him and the old man is asking exorbitant prices for his launch fee.  whatever.  I'll try it at least once.  he swore the place is haunted by giant green bass.  hehe.  (they all say that).

I LOVE the DELTA!!

Looks like a monster could be lurking.....20+

Funny, it just so happens I'm looking at bridge building as a new career at age 54, so if you need any help.... ;)

Anyways, I love the Delta too and I've barely touched it yet. This season will be a biggie.

You realize that loose lips sinks ships!

Be careful, the Delta is another world and the old man had a hand gun for a reason.

@Darth-Baiter how's the fishing in the delta these days?  It's been ages since I've been out there.  BTW, agree with @WRB, there were many sketchy characters along the delta way back when and I'm told it's worse now.

There are some sketchy areas for bank fishing. I know of some near Stockton, but when I'm on the water and not the banks then I don't notice or care about people on shore.

The Delta is gigantic, there's something for everyone. It can be great one day, skunk the next. One of the top bass fisheries in the country....I believe it was in the top 10 a few years ago. Not sure if was BASS or what that decided that. It's going to be in my top 3 places to kayak this season.

Fuel prices have dampened my Delta enthusiasm for sure.  I reserving days on the delta with more favorable conditions. Tide and wind.  Mostly wind.

that place I found is friggen far.  Haha.  2.5 hours drive easy.  I know a closer spot with a hideous kayak launch.  I’ll try next weekend.  It should be full blown fishing if the wind cooperates.  Delta in the wind sucks.
