I have this old as heck hook sharpener that dates back to the 70s. It’s like maybe 2” long, and frankly, I never thought it did much good. And also frankly, new hooks today from most manufacturers are sharp as heck out of the package. But hooks become dull, so after viewing @Glenn sharpening video, I decided to purchase a new one. 
 

I bought a Lansky. Mostly for name recognition, as I am a hunter, and Lansky has a great reputation for sharpeners for knives and broadheads. It came today. At first glance I was not overly impressed. It looked functional, but nothing special. I tried it out on a dull jig and a sharp (but not scary sharp) Zara Spook. Keeping it at a 10° angle, it took only a few strokes for the point to dig into my fingernail. I’m used to having smooth patches on my forearm from shaving hair checking the sharpness of my hunting knives and fixed-bladed broadheads. Now I need to get used to gouged thumbnails. Those hooks got sharp! 
 

Not bad for $4.99!
