Dobyns Maverick Reel Questions

Featured Replies

Having a hard time finding any real (pun not intended) specs ob the new Dobyns Maverick casting reels. For instance:

What are the frame, body and gear materials?

What style brakes does it have?

Hate to assume, but if nothing seems to want to call them out, I tend to lean towards assuming they are graphite frame and body, magnetic brakes, and run of the mill gear sets.

Love my Dobyns rods, but a little frustrated that the literature doesn't give us many specifics about these new reels.

Anybody have one yet that could fill us in?

Found one seller who had this info

"a fully adjustable magnetic cast control,"

What I get a kick out of across the board is the blurbs for the casting reel mention a roller bearing. Even TW's writeup says that.

Wait...what?

Thanks! Guessing the roller bearing is the Anti-reverse bearing.

(slaps his own head) - right...I has the dumbs right now cause of sickie.

Now that Lews has been acquired and signed KVD, the niche they once filled as a “less expensive Revo” is opening back up. Dobyns could slide in there but not sure this will cut it. I’ll have to see one.

I agree. I thought about buying one just to check them out, but not a huge fan of straight mechanical brakes and while they are reasonably priced,... Still $100 plus tax/shipping
