Ark Tharp Grinder Rod 7' MH/MF

Featured Replies

This rod really has my attention. Seems reasonably priced at $130 but what really caught my eye is that it's rated for lures 1/4oz. - 1-1/2oz. This is a very broad range and if true could help me consolidate my rods to the point where I could sell my 7'6" MH and 7' M cranking setups and just go with this one cranking rod that could handle both small crankbaits and deep divers. Would love to hear from people who have this specific rod and how they like it? Are the lure ratings accurate?

I appreciate your humor but I'm just stating the specifications of this rod and looking for people who actually have it to verify if it's a good rod and how accurate the ratings are. Easy to be an armchair quarterback but if you don't actually own/fish with a rod kinda' hard to legitimately give an accurate review IMO.

It sounds similar the Cashion Multi-purpose rod. Same ratings. I think you get a wider range with a moderate fast action as opposed to a fast action. I can vouch for the Cashion in that range but I can't really help other than to compare the ratings between the two.

I have no experience with the rod at hand, but no LazyBoy required to know that no rod exists that would be a good choice for both small cranks and deep divers.

I don't have the Grinder, but I have a pair of B-Hittay's. 7'4" with the same weight rating. It throws a 3/8 Chatterbait plus trailer well, but 1/4 might be a bit of a stretch. I'd say 3/8 - 1oz is where it's gonna perform best. Very nice rods for the $$$.
