Poison Adrena 'regular fast' action?

Featured Replies

Anyone fished the Poison Adrena regular fast action?

For small cranks or light/thin hooks a deeper mod is nice but for whatever reason I really like Daiwa's 'regular' action on mid-depth and smaller deep cranks, especially with bigger hooks. But there's not a higher end graphite that I can see from Daiwa with that action. What would you -not- fish on the PA?

Broke my Daiwa with a dummy move so I'm in the market.

I have the 7'3 MH PA and I bought it for chatterbaits/spinnerbaits. I also have a Daiwa Zillion 7'2 MH/R. I think the PA is just SLIGHTLY faster than a Daiwa MH/R. I wouldn't hesitate to fish a jig on the PA with braid. I know most like XF though. I bet it would even work for frogs/toads with braid and a good hookset on non-slack line. Basically, I think it's a pretty versatile rod.

Thanks. This is exactly the info I was looking for.

I have the PA 163M (JDM) casting rod with the regular fast action.  It is quite versatile and handles light (but not ultralight or BFS) stuff well.  For lighter stuff they make BFS specific models (JDM).

There is a tak tatula elite rod that is supposedly a pretty good regular taper stick.  On the highest end I'm pretty sure there is a regular taper steez usdm ad jdm.  On the adrenas I hear the 73mh and 72h are good moving bait rods with the mh being a good all arounder and the h being the better bladed jig rod of the two.  Depends what you want to throw.  If cranks 1st a foremost I would go with the tak tatula elite, pa 73mh for all an round super versatile rod and the pa 72h as the heavier moving bait rod.  I went down this path for a versatile moving bait rod but ended up spending more than double what I planned on a mh megabas valkaryie that has been haunting me for over a year.  Finally gave in and it is an amazing glass composite mh.

I have a few PA's; the 7'3MH/RF is very versatile.  Spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, open hook 3-4" swimbaits, and swim jigs are my primary choices.  I also really like it for top water trebles.  I also like it for heavier neds, dark sleepers, and finesse football jigs.  I've thrown squarebills on it too when I didn't have a cranking rod.  In some ways this rod feels like a more sensitive version of the Dobyns DC734 to me.  To me, they both fish a little light but definitely can handle their 1oz max.  I don't have any diawa rod experience to compare to unfortunately.
