Hey guys,

 

Planning to get some of the VMC Neko hooks since they seems to be so highly recommended for wacky rigging.

 

What size should I be using if I’m using an o-ring? Some people say #2…some say 2/0.

 

Also is there any reason NOT to get the weedless version?

#2 is fine for using with o-ring. Some think bigger hook better hookup but that up to individual. I use shrink tube and alway hook into some of the plastic, so 1/0 is perfect for me.

weedless or not, depends on your location. I mostly use weedless hook just not for weed but snagged as well. If you don’t have that problem, might as well get regular hook where you can buy 25 packs.

Most go with either the #1 or #2 size VMC Neko hooks for wacky rigging finesse worms or stick worms . 

Heat shrink w/ #2 vmc neko.

 

My hookup ratio increased tremendously when I got away from " wacky rig" hooks.

Yep, hook up percentage goes way up - and I almost always hook them in the roof of the mouth. I use the weedless version in either #1 or #2.

I’m in AZ…haven’t seen any weeds here haha. But it might be nice to have the weedless version in case I ever do. 

I decided to go middle route and go with the #1 size

1/0 and 2/0 depending on the bait

i use the 1/0 and buy the weedless. if i decide i dont want it i can always cut it off. lately ive been using the owner sniper neko hook in 1/0 holy moly does that thing stick en and the titanium weed gaurd works really well. expensive though.

Ya gotta get it down to the bend of the hook and squeeze it tight.
