Should I pre-order the Shimano 22 Bantam MGL or buy JDM Metanium MGL?

Featured Replies

I have a $350 reel budget. I'd like to be able to use it in salt water occasionally, but 90% of use will be bank fishing in Central Florida. As a bank fisherman, casting distance is a big priority for me. I know the Bantam is heavy, but I usually don't fish for more than 3 hours. Really appreciate any advice.

I have three JDM Mets, they are excellent casters. Really nice reels.

I bought all three for under $300 too.

I vote for the pre-order 22 Bantam.

What about US Metanium? I bank fish Central FL. Usually don't have many places to cast from so I need to be able to cast far, but I'm also fishing through grass/weeds/pads so I need something powerful as well.

US Metanium is a good reel. The 2022 Bantam is one step above the Met.

 How so?

JDM Met with USDM handle is a great combo at a great price. Couple of weeks ago they were at $228 at Digitaka. That was an amazing deal. today at $250 it not bad either.
