Kipawa Trolling Motor Propellers

I just learned of this Company in another thread. They boast a decent upgrade over OE props. If anyone has experience with these, good or bad. I'd appreciate the input.

Thanks in advance

I am considering one of these as well. I searched and found a number of older threads in this forum where folks having this prop gave their opinions...mostly good. However, some folks gave a caveat that TM makers might consider the installation of this prop a warranty voider.

I'm sorta on the fence on getting it. My stock prop on my MK does all I need right now and also gives me 3.5mph top speed on my canoe. I could probably pick up some speed with the Kipawa prop...but I'm not sure I need the extra speed for anything! :;)

Thanks for the info - you know I fired up the search before posting but came up empty.

I also am fishing from a canoe and my MK 55T gets me around just fine. Not really looking to throw a rooster tail either. I would REALLY like to be able to hold position in the wind a bit better.

As for the warranty void, I think I'm already past it anyway.

Unless I hear some horror stories I'm picking one up.

;)

They're not that expensive so it's not a big $$$ deal to experiment with the Kipawa prop - let us know how it works out.

BTW - if you use the search engine, select "(all posts)", then search on "Kipawa", you will get nearly 70 hits !

I had one before I upgraded trolling motors. I liked it a lot. more power ... less torque steer. I'm going to pick one up for the new trolling motor soon.

I bought one several years ago for my MG before Merc came along and bought the MG series and re-named it a Hydrilla Hacker.  Still running it on my new MG and definitely like it over the stock prop.  Not sure you can still buy it from the folks at MG (Merc). Kipawa no longer sells props for MG trolling motors.  They are worth the money.

Shortbasser

I picked one up last year and like it alot.  Boat moves a little quicker and prop doesn't get bogged down with weeds as much.

I had one on a MK-74. It's a 12-24 v model. It was great for about 6 t0 8 weeks. It was in the spring a couple of years ago( when ever they 1st. came out). I fish at least part of the day every in the spring so it was used a lot in heavy grass. It started to cause a bad vibration in the T/M so I took it off & have not had the vibration since. Before removing it I did check it out in clean deep water. ;)

I have had one installed on my trolling motor for at least three years now and really like it.  More power, less vibration and handles the grass really well.  I have a Minn Kota 36 volt 101 lbs thrust.  I understand MK changed the shafts style on the newer trolling motors that the Kippewa prop won't fit anymore.  They may have since modified the props to fit by now.

Yes there is one to fit the newer style round shaft MK
