MegaBass Sleeper Gill

Featured Replies

I have caught one fish and lost one because he wasn’t hooked well. I get a lot of bites, but so far, it hasn’t translated to landing them. It may just be short strikers. I do believe the profile and hook placement will lend itself to poorer hookups compared to something like a football jig. I hope I’m wrong because it’s fun to fish and does generate strikes.

I managed to hook a good size one on my first time out with a sleeper gill, but it swam straight toward the boat and I couldn't keep it pinned.  Threw the hook.  It threw off my game for the rest of the night.

The next time out, I managed to put 4 in the boat with it.  You REALLY need a strong hook set with them.  The one thing I noticed is a lot of things pull at the tail but never really inhale it.  Also, the dip/paint/whatever on them doesn't seem to last.  After two times out the pumpkinseed one I've been using is basically white.

Fished it a few times again this weekend for a tournament and not a single bite. I also had an eye pop off, the paint/dye is coming off, and I also can't get them swim straight.  They just roll on their side.

I love Megabass stuff but this has been a disappointment.

I have zero to report as still haven’t gotten back out ?

Used it yesterday evening, paint does peel off. Tons of bites. But only caught 1 and lost a good one that wouldn't stay pinned.

Produced alot of strikes, but not alot of hookups. I'll definitely keep fishing them

I'd love it if someone could fish through an area with a keitech and then the DSG and see if they get additional bites. Or even the other way around.
