GoneFishingLTN
So I’ve started to think I’ve made bass fishing to difficult. I have small natural Lakes around me, with no current and a thermocline around 15 feet are usually all this time I’ve been trying to fish humps, points and structure but I seem to have just as much luck casting a bit deeper if summer or shallower If spring and not even carrying about the structure is this a mental thing or is this just a part of bass fishing. example is I would cast on just a normal bank that goes out to 10-15 no fast drops or anything but standing trees would be there and I would have just as much luck as if I was to fish a hump honestly more luck
softwateronly
You might be overthinking it, you're catching fish. You might be overlooking/underestimating the structure underlying the cover. And you might be missing the cover on the structure. Isn't this hobby fun? scott
Super User casts_by_fly Posted June 17, 2022 Super User Share Posted June 17, 2022 You're talking structure and cover in the same sentence. Both important. Sometimes fish don't care about cover and load up on structure. Sometimes they only want to be tucked into the cover. Often they want some structure under their cover (bottom ditches in grass fields) or some cover on their structure (brush piles on points). If the bass are in the timber, then fish the timber. If they aren't in the timber tomorrow, try the hump. They will be somewhere, so just keep trying and when you find them don't over think it.
