Oradell lake deteriorating

Featured Replies

Lake oradell in nj has had a steep decline recently, in the past 2 weeks it has dropped about 3 feet and today i have noticed excess algae. They actually posted at the gate that they are treating it for algae, and i have not found bass since then. The baitfish and bluegill/crappies are absolutely still there, but i have not noticed any bass or carp. Because of the algae, would they escape into the connecting rivers?

Both Heart and Pearl Jam do great covers of Love, Rain o'er Me (and of course there is the original)...

Early-to-mid summer is when we start getting posts like these. Dropping levels and increased algae add up to a potential fish-kill situation.  Compounding the issue is that sometimes measures enacted to control the algae can sometimes exacerbate the problem due to incorrect implementation.

We have TONS of articles on this, because it's extremely common yet greatly misunderstood.
