Cabin/river vacation suggestions

Featured Replies

Hi all, two summers ago we went to Missouri and stayed at the Shoalnook Cabins on the James River. Very basic, fish camp, rustic type cabins.

We have three kids (16, 12, 11 now) and absolutely loved being able to wake up and go outside and swim and fish all day. We caught a lot of small spots and smallmouth.

We are looking to do that again but we decided this last minute and Shoalnook is booked the rest of summer.

So I’m looking for suggestions on something that sounds similar to that. Middle of no where is a plus. Must be on a swimmable/fishable/wade-able stream or river. Must be north within 6-10 hours of Texas. $100-$150 a night.

Thanks!!

Sorry, Texas is huge. I’m in the Fort Worth area. 6-10 hours from there a plus. Galena, MO where those other cabins are was 7.5 hours.
