Manley Fishing pliers

Featured Replies

i was cursing my current pliers. some inexpensive pair.  they pinch fine, but the side cutters are goners.

my old boss is a fly fisherman.  he said to go with Manley fishing pliers.  they look way different for sure.  stubby almost.  not the ones to reach behind the gills to grab a deeply hooked bass, but they do look intriging.

anyone?

Use to use them as a tennis racquet stringing tool, not great fishing pliers IMNSHO

Apparently they also have Manley Fishing Pliers too.

They look an awful lot like my TackleDirect piers.

I have seen these branded by several retailers. I have a pair from Gander Mountain.

Maybe he's talking about Manley Super Pliers? That looks like saltwater stuff - Teflon coated and pricey. They look like they're built to last though. "Stubby" pliers have a much stronger grip than longer pliers, so they have that going for them. They're not built for getting way down in the throats of small fish.

For the serious blue water fisherman, the 6.5" size includes spring loaded action. The pliers stay sharp cutting wire long after other brands are thrown away. These Super Pliers are available with a rust resistant teflon coating. Daily fresh water rinse and oil will ensure years of service.
