I have an older shimano spinning reel. I love the reel, but at times the bail snaps closed when I make a cast. I know it is fully opened and ready. Anyone know if there is a fix? Thanks.

Might need a replacement bail spring.  Not definitive, but definitely a possibility.

Send it to DVT and you'll be fine.

I have a shimano spirex that did that.

Not all the time but every once in a while.

I never did investigate to see what the issue was. It didn't do enough to make me want to check it out.

I would assume it has something to do with a weak bail spring or the friction ring not seated properly.

I dont think thats a spring issue, i believe its the friction ring that causes that. It's a super easy fix if you can source the part.
