Ugly Stik GX2

Featured Replies

Would an UglyStik GX2 be a good rod for someone with little experience bass fishing? Is it a better or worse option than a Daiwa AIRD-X. If anyone knows rods in the same price range ($50) as those two that are good options I'm open to more ideas.

Skip the UglyStick - go with the Aird-X.

I've had both - I cut the UglyStick down to use as a spooling tool - still have two Aird-X in my arsenal...and that's with half my bass arsenal being Dobyns Furys.

Thanks! Any other good options? And what reels would you recommend (the cheaper the better).

Spinning or casting?

Also, what's your max spending limit - there is a break point...really cheap reels aren't worth the money most times.

I'd choose the Diawa. Better action for bass fishing. Academy Sports has some good rods in this price range also.
