Minn Kota Maximizer

Just bought a "new to me" 191 Champion Elite and it has a Motorguide TM on it which I don't care for but it works fine.  I'm going to switch to Minn Kota Maxxum and trying to decide if I want to spend more for the maximizer feature.  What do all you Minn Kota fans think?

Don't need it?  or....Can't live without it?  Whats your opinion?

The MK Max Pro will be a good upgrade. The Maximizer feature greatly reduces the drain on your batteries. I'd get the 80# unit. Good luck with your 191. It's a great boat.

X's 3! Alway's get the biggest powered tm you can "afford" you won't be sorry!! Junebugman

Extended battery run time per charge and variable speed - good stuff...

I am with Goose and everyone else; it is definitely worth what you pay for it. One extended trip that ends with plenty of TM power left in the tank, and you will appreciate the difference.

I think you've gotten enough saying "GET THE MAXIMIZER" If you're never had a motor with it or something similar, you will be wondering why not and never want another without it after you've used it.

I did have it on my old MK 48 AT on my Cajun Elias and actually made it through a 3 day weekend once without recharging.  So, yeah...I'll get it.

The Maxxum Pro 80s are not made anymore.  They were replaced by the Fortrex models.  You can get a Maxxum 70 still.  If you want the universal sonar built in you will need to go with a Fortrex model as well.

My fishing partner has a 70lb Edge on an 18.5' and I have 70lb Maxxum with Maximizer on a 19.5' boat.  We both have Deka batteries.  I have never run the batteries dead on any day fishing.  We fish several tournaments a month.  His batteries have been run dead on multiple tournaments.  If it is windy we have to take my boat because his boat batteries will be dead before weigh in.

Get the maximizer.

Thanks for the info. I will be buying a new TM in the spring. I was looking at the Edge, but not now.

Just in case you're still wavering...

GET THE MAXIMIZER!

You can find used MK's for a song all over the internet.
