I recently bought a boat from a different state that was never registered (they never put a motor on it). I have the bill of sale from the owner, but does anyone know how to go about registering this? It will be registered in NY.

    Do you have a title? I don't know about NY but in IL, without a title, you'll have to apply for a title with the hull ID# The DNR will run the number to verify it wasn't stolen and then issue a title and registration. The trailer gets titled thru the DMV
