Propeller hub removal.

Featured Replies

Has any one ever removed one successfully.
I spun my first hub. Can’t get the hub out. Broke a 1 inch chrome socket used a spacer trying to knock it out with a 2 pound sledge hammer. Guess I’ll have to take it to some one with a press. Prop shop said he’d do it for 107 bucks for parts and installation. But I can buy the hub kit for 50 and do it myself if I can.

You don’t want pay $57 to do it properly?

That's what prop shops are for.  The old is pressed out and the new is pressed in.  The hub kit you are looking at may be for the newer props that comes with inserts so they can be used on different motors, not for your prop.

Yup you’re right. I had to use a hydraulic press and a set of bearing dies. Took me about 15 mins. A little research and the right tools. I understand not everyone has access to the correct tools or it wouldn’t have been possible.

I like it when I can fix things myself, and $57.00 you can spend on tackle or a little bit of fuel.
