Academy rebranding their baits? For better or for worse?

Featured Replies

I was browsing my home away from home, the Academy freshwater fishing section when I noticed the H20 Express baits (their in house brand) had a new looking lure and box altogether. Me and Uncle bobber were out and caught a few on the chartreuse crank but that's all as far as H20 Express catches. Though this new swimbait I bought looks alright and better than the previous bluegill swim I had pre rebranding and it didn't catch anything on. But alas I lost that one in the tree. Now I'm here asking what's up with this rebranding of the H20 Express to H20X and some of the new more glossy lures. The new one looks similar to the pic but different head and way better color.

I also noticed this, and it appears they're offering more multi jointed hard baits than before, but maybe I just missed them. To the OP, I had the old multi jointed sunfish that looks very similar, and it absolutely still catches me fish. Try burning that new one down banks with weed lines, I assure you a fish will eventually eat it.PXL_20221219_212005747_2_11zon.thumb.jpg.aa479a4a19167a840cddb2655fae72f0.jpg

It's it's rebranding then meh, if they change the baits, I would be mad if I didn't already have 3 lifetimes supply...

Crazy you say that because that's the exact same lure as the old one I lost in a tree. What conditions you throw it in?

I was pleasantly surprised to see my favorite Ultimate Jerk Shad (110 clone) with some new eyes and at a decent price like I'm used to. I was worried when they all went on closeout. Picked up a jointed gill and and a Crappie too.

Oh. And the old logo stuff is all still on closeout. I got 3700 boxes for under $3 earlier this week. I just wish I could find an Academy with a surplus of old tac40s....

Pretty much any. I throw hard swim baits every time I go out. As long as there is a slight bit of wind or a little chop, they seem interested.
