Expride 7’2”H vs 7’6”H?

Featured Replies

For those of you that own or have fished both of these rods how to they compare as far as tip and balance are concerned? I’ve never fished any of the Expride rods but handled the 7’2H today and was very impressed with how light and balanced the rod was. They didn’t have a 7’6H so was curious how these two rods compare. I have mostly Tatula elite rods and Dobyns which I would think would have softer tips than the exprides but I could be wrong.

I have both an Expride A and an Expride B in the 7' 2" MH size and I love them both. I think the B is slightly more sensitive than the A.

Weird thing today, though. I was throwing an underspin with the A for a few minutes, then switched over to the B where I had a spinnerbait tied on. For some reason, the B felt really weird. I have no idea why. The grip and the butt just felt off a bit. I think it's because I've had the A longer and I'm more comfortable with it.

@Koz could it be the new "carbon monocoque" butt sections? I felt that in the Zodias when I first got it, and every now and then when I pick it back up, especially after anything with a full cork handle.  It's like it takes time again to adjust to the balance.

My 7'6MH A balances just in front of the lock nut with a curado 70, 6.9oz.  My 7'6XH A balances just in front of the lock nut with a 7 speed bantam, 7.6oz.  I would expect something similar in the Heavy if your reel is in this range.
