My 89' Ranger has a pedestal seat up front that I really want to remove because I always stand when fishing.  The problem is, I cant get it off.  Does anyone know how to remove these seats?

Sometimes the pedestal will jam and you have to use a pipe wrench.

Also, don't forget, some pedistals screw in.

In the boat I bought last year, neither the front or rear pedestal would come out.  The front one I sat a bag of ice around for a half hour or so and then used a pipe wrench and pulled like hell.  Finally got that one out and sanded it down a bit.

The rear one I could not get to budge.  One hernia later  ;D I just removed the base plate.  Come to find out the post was rusted in.  The base of that actually hangs in the livewell and a stainless steel base was not used.  >

There's a product called "Silicroil" that will probably loosen it if it's just rusted or stuck.  It comes in an orange can.  You should be able to google it.

i had the same problem on my nitro when i bought it. I just took some liquid wrench and sprayed a little on it and let it sit for a day. then came back the next day and it pulled right off.
