Adding a 2nd Humminbird

Featured Replies

Silly question I am looking to get answered: I have a Helix 10 4GN on my boat, looking to add a Helix 9 4GN up front. Do I need to mount a 2nd transducer, or can I run them both off one?

Thanks in advance for any help...

You can but you'll need to get the ethernet box and adapter cables: https://humminbird-help.johnsonoutdoors.com/hc/en-us/articles/4412774839703-Ethernet-Sharing-Humminbird-to-Humminbird

But, what trolling motor do you have? Why not just run the second transducer onto your TM from the bow unit?

You can’t connect one transducer to two units.  You can share data between two units via an Ethernet network.  The transducer will be connected to one unit which will share the sonar data with the other unit over the network.  All you will need is an Ethernet cable between the two units.  If you want to add anything more to the network like MEGA Live or an iPilot link trolling motor then you will need to add an Ethernet switch.

this is your answer. Also if you want to run mega live and have two head units you’ll need the switch. I think you could put one transducer on each unit (if you had a tm mounted one for instance) and then just connect the units. You’d have to select which display is the primary and which is the slave each time to swap though. At that point just get the switch.
