Could you locate 2 large 'pins' under the platform that would drop into the front rod holders?

As you know, the further outside the boat's centerline you distribute your weight the less stable the boat becomes.

Here you go, though I'm not really sure of its value.  Not a 10e but pretty close

Looks like an older Bass Hunter.Did you do the paint on it.? I have one that is 30 years old and thinking about doing some camouflage paint  on it.

UPDATE!!! SORRY EVERYONE but Photobucket wants me to spend 399 dollars to host my pictures...I just refuse to do that!  You can still check the pics out with this link: http://s709.photobucket.co

  • Picked up my bass raider 3 or 4 months ago and I absolutely love it.  I did a bunch of mods including a casting deck and the deck is rock solid.  It's 3x more stable on my deck than standing in some o

Motorguide makes a portable, foot-controlled trolling motor called Bulldog 54, it has 54 lbs thrust. I note that it has 5 speeds, so, does that mean it is not one of the new technology digital motors that provides much long run times due to a more efficient use of the battery? I think those are variable speed with infinite 'settings?'

Also, does anyone use one of these on a Bass Raider type boat? Is there room to put it in front of you so that you are not too cramped up?

I also note that this model has a 30 inch shaft. I figured it was 36". I hope 30" fits the Bass Raider okay.

I don't see one like this from Minn Kota.

Lastly, I have a Minn Kota Endura 50, transom mount. I use it fine on my pond jumper boat and also my jon boat. Does anyone know if there is a foot control gizmo that I can attach to this trolling motor? Seems I have seen one. If so, I wouldn't have to buy a Bulldog. (EDIT: I found it, it is called Troll King. I wonder if it works good!)

Let me know, thanks.

I have seen someone showcase a method of storing one in the air and I think it is in this thread but I have no idea what page, sorry.

Construct something like this.   This one is available at Dick's sporting goods for $30 but is only rated at 100 lbs.  You could use a small boat winch to operate it.  I would construct a small flat wooden cradle wider than the boat width to go under the boat so that the straps don't squeeze the sides of the boat in over time.  good luck.

Harbor freight has a bicycle lift kit for around 10 bucks that should work well for a bass raider.

I saw that lift and sure wouldn't want to hang a 150 lb boat or 250 lbs with battery, motor, etc. from it.  It's designed for a 20 lb bike.  especially with a car and/or people under it.

Im about to buy one next weekend hopefully for 100 bucks with trolling motor and 2 seats

Nice mods.Looks like a really nice rig.

What's the setup you have there for your fishfinder? (Who makes it and how much does it cost?)

Its a Cellblock by Yak Attack with Ram mounts for the transducer and Lowrance. Like $140 all together, not counting FF and battery

I have yet another question. I've read many pages here but haven't seen this mentioned. I have my 10e stored in my 1 car garage on top of my 4x4 atv's. I want to store it hanging from the cross beams of my steel carport above my pick up. Anybody here store their boat by hanging it? And if so how? Thanks.

CARPORT PICS 038.jpg

I recently hung my Pelican 12' Intruder from my carport which is just standard height. I used two bicycle hangers rated at 100 lbs each, the boat is listed at 127 lbs. Holds it just fine. I'd post pics but since I'm a noob I guess I can't.

Hello all! This is my first post to the forum, but I've been visiting for a while. Recently I picked up a new Bass Raider from Dick's. Fresh off the show room floor we strapped her in the pickup and headed to the lake. It's a great little boat in it's stock configuration for sure, and very stable. The thing is, it's a great platform to be improved and the little boat is just begging for it...

The Bass Raider is small enough and light enough to load up into my pickup easily with two people.

20160403_112739_resized-M.jpg

After using the boat a few times with two people, gear and a 45lb thrust trolling motor in the back, we tried it in the front. The motor does work better in the front, but the tail likes to swing a lot more with the motor pulling instead of pushing. To resolve this issue, I scavenged an old trolling motor my brother gave me and made a rudder/keel of sorts like some of you have. I also used the bottom of the shaft to mount the transducer for my Humminbird Helix 7. I haven't used it yet, but it seems like it will work well.

With the rudder and transducer taken care of, it was time to figure out how to mount the sonar screen to the boat in a fashion that would be usable in a number of configurations without having to drill a bunch of holes in the boat. To accomplish this, I constructed a little table from PVC and wood from ideas in this thread. I haven't tried any of this out yet, but it looks like it will work well with one or two people in the boat. If it's just me in the boat, I'll have the little table up front. If I am with someone, the table works well in the middle of the boat so we can both use the table as well as see the sonar.

20160406_153655_resized_2-M.jpg

I added a second shelf on the bottom of the frame to hold the little gel cell battery and counter the leverage effect of the screen when it is leaned out. It seems to work well and keep some of the wires out of the way. It also adds some storage rigidity.

20160407_192001_resized_1-M.jpg

After I use the table a little bit, I'll get a better feel as to what I would like to add to it, like shelves, other storage, etc. Only then will I take the time to finish it with a bit of sanding and paint. When I get some of that done, I'll be sure to post the progress up here. Until then, happy fishing everyone, and thanks for having me.

Welcome TRM, raider looks good and off to a good start with the mods. Have fun.

New to the site and just brought home my new Raider. There is a ton of good info on mods here. Already spent twice on what I paid for the boat on accessories. Great forum!

For those who don't have a stocking store close by, Dicks has a $90 shipping special for the next week or so.  Sure beats the $392.81 shipping they would normally charge me here in Maryland.

Therivermonster - great job....your going to love the rudder you made, makes a world of difference!  I like your table, I have something similar for my fishfinder but always kept the little battery on the side storage area of the boat - its always in the way so im gonna see about adding that shelf.....I added measurement markings on my table so that I can quickly lay a fish down and measure it without having to get anything else out - but thats about all i've done to it haha

dman, that's a great idea. I'm going to paint it all soon, and put a couple layers of clear on, so maybe I'll get a stick on piece of measuring tape, then clear over that.

I can't wait to try it all out, but it's still going to be a few weeks I'm afraid. I'm on call for work this week, and going after turkeys next weekend. I suppose I can't complain too much.

I'll post pics when I get the chance.

That all looks real good. I post some pics of my 8E soon.

Im about to get one tomorrow from va and im in md do i need to register and get stickers for it?  Or a boaters lisence? I've never owned any type of water craft

I'm not sure about MD, but VA requires registration if your running any type of motor. If your getting it from Dick's, be sure you insist to get statement of origin. This is required to get registered. I bought one this week and they tried to tell me the sticker on hull would suffice. NOT! Went to register and it was a no go. The Dicks I delt with removes all the paperwork from the boats and did not keep up with it. They ended up contacting Pelican in Canada and they had to re-produce the statement and emailed it to me within a couple hours. Still was a pain in the @$$.

Im buying it from a private seller. What is a certificate of origin? Hes giving me a title for it

Certificate of origin is what you get with new boat. If your getting a title, you are good to go.

If this has already been covered, i apologize - didn't see it.  Has anyone put one of these

Motorguide Bulldog Peak Thrust Foot Control Trolling Motor

on their Raider:  http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00269WC22/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2HESX0WY5KL3E&coliid=I2F4YUKFMZFTB4

I have an 8 footer so im not sure if there is enough room for it - that cable might get in the way of......everything. I need the foot pedal to be blue tooth!

I realize it's not a Pelican Bassraider but it is a 2 man boat. Got a good deal on the boat (Basshound 9.4) and have already upgraded the 28lb thrust TM to a 50lb thrust and have added a Lowrance Elite 4 HDI gps/graph to it. Gonna save up to buy the foot controlled bullfrog TM because I know I've missed some fish by having to jack with the TM.

I like the lay out, looks as though it will be easy to mod.

In VA. we have inland game and fisheries, but DMV will accept the nessesary paper work. They will want to see sales receipt, title and whatever documentation in addition in what MD requires for boats.
