What Split Rings to Use??

Featured Replies

I am a bass fisherman looking to replace the split rings on some of my older baits. What size and brand would you recommend for standard squarebills?

#2?  dunno the size since i eyeballed it.

i bought the owner Ovals.  for some reason, Ovals are harder to wrestle with.  but they seem darn sturdy.  rounds are easier to work around.  (for me)

What @Darth-Baiter said. Ovals are the way to go. I've got several sizes, try to match the wire size of the split ring that's being replaced.

I have stopped using split rings all together. For cranks and jerkbaits I use vmc crankbait snaps. For swimbaits I use tactical angler clips. I feel I get better knot strength tying to a clip and cam change things out quicker.

Obviously I size the snap for the size of the bait...
