Zoom fluke question

Featured Replies

I just started fishing zoom flukes. Rod is a Dobyns 703 casting rod with 12lb big game. I think I’ve had a few hits but missed them. What are the hits like with a fluke? Do they spit it out fast or do they hold onto it more like a senko. Should I wait a second or set the hook immediately?

you never know what kind of hit you'll get.sometimes they kill it and you can't set the hook fast enough.other times you won't feel em and will not be able to set on em before you lose em. that's when you lose your mind.....you have a great setup so keep trying.

Dobyns 703 is the perfect rod for flukes. You gotta see how the fish behave. Like the previous poster said sometimes they smash it sometimes you don’t even know they’re on it

With the Super Fluke, the ones I miss are small fish that aren't getting 5 inches + a 4/0 EWG in their mouth. Fish worth catching inhale it pretty good.

By the way, a Dobyns 3 power is a great Fluke rod.

The zoom fluke is one of the most effective bass baits ever created.  I agree what you are probably experiencing are small fish. Good size fish generally inhale the bait.  If you ever get into schooling bass, try a zoom fluke with a treble hook buried in the nose.

I use Yamamoto DShads and I treat them more like a frog.  Gotta give them a few seconds to turn with the Bait.

Great rod, but I have much better success using braid to a leader w flukes.

In my experience decent fish hit it pretty hard and aren’t too hard to catch.  It’s the dinks and bluegill that nibble.

How are you rigging it? What hook are you using?
