Went to swap reels today and the lock nut on my perfect pitch was just spinning… I basically just had to push it up towards the blank and take it off without using the lock nut. I’m sure I’m messing terms up hopefully someone gets what I’m saying. To me looks like glue failure. File too big apparently to upload picture and I’m tech challenged. Thanks

Looks similar I guess… I should have just called a place that builds/ repairs rods I can text them exact photo.

lol with carpentry…. I emailed Thorne bros here in Minnesota and sent them a picture. I know they make custom rods and service reels hopefully they fix rods. Thanks

If the lock nut is spinning then the seat threads underneath it are not attached to the blank.  This is the most common failure of "big box store" rods, from my experience.  Either the seat or the grip.

 

An experienced rod builder can most likely fix it by drilling a hole in the seat and injecting structural epoxy to glue the seat to the blank.

Really wish I could upload the picture… once moving the lock nut out of the way I was able to twist the threaded part below on and off… I could still use the rod the lock nut itself is now useless. Thanks all I’ve emailed a rod builder. Appreciate the help. 

You can upload the picture. When you select It, at the bottom click show selected, then click actual size, then change It to medium.

That's what you're seeing in my pic. It's fixable with a specific epoxy.

Thank you for taking the time to help out, it’s much appreciated. 

Pic with the plastic scored and prepped. The inside of the nut was also scored using the pick. Taped blank, both sides of the nut, and silicone grease on the seat's threads in case the epoxy weeps. Doable if you're handy.
