Featured Replies

how do they stand up against abu black max new one , bionic blade and ect. i have been looking at them and the reviews i have read were very good just need more info

That was my first baitcaster. It never gave me a minute of trouble. Admittedly I didn't keep it very long, but for the few months I owned it, it was flawless.

Nightmid:

Thanks for your recent post.  We think Pinnacle's Platinum Plus compares quite favorably with the Abu Black Max and similar models.  For the money, the Platinum Plus is hard to beat.  It features six high quality stainless steel bearings, a durable yet lightweight reinforced graphite frame and a fully-adjustable advanced magnetic ant-backlash system with 8 magnets.  The multi-disc drag system is also extremely smooth, consistent and reliable.  We suggest you add a Platinum Plus to your angling arsenal...you won't be disappointed.

Good Fishing!

Pinnacle1, don't take this the wrong way, but relax a bit.

This is a very laid-back, casual forum. It's not necessary to answer every question in a way that sounds like you cut/paste it straight out of a product brochure. :)

LOL...OK, Stasher1,  I'll lighten up on the promotional lingo.  But, you gotta cut me some slack...I'm a copywriter and outdoor writer as well as an avid angler. Sometimes I get a little carried away with the words, but I truly believe what I say about our reels...great stuff that's priced right.

Best,

Just trying to be helpful.  :)

FWIW, my experience with Pinnacle products, though limited, has been positive. I can't say the same for some of the other, more well-known brands.

I bought a St. Croix casting rod off a guy on Craigs List and he threw in a Pinnacle Plus for another $10. I didn't immediately have a reel for it, so I figured it would get me through until I could replace it.

I've since moved it to my spider jig rod, but it's still getting use and catching fish. In fact, there are more expensive reels I would replace, before I got rid of this one.

It's no Curado, but based on the build and feel of this reel, seems like, $ for $, you're getting more for your money down in the "value" range with Pinnacle. I'd be willing to try other reels based on the performance of my $10 "find."

Thanks for a decent, inexpensive little reel!

I love mine...it is about to get a makeover, but it is one of my favorites for sure.  I will always have it with me when fishing.

For the price you can't beat it. I bought one last year while i was having my Citica cleaned, and I had no problems with it. Hauled in that bass in my avitar didn't get a weight on her, but that's a (5inch)128 pointer hanging out of her mouth.

I've got one that I've fished with 100s of times and it has always been a great reel.  I highly recommend it.
