Curado 50 E

Featured Replies

Anyone else using one of these?  I've got one on an old  5'6" med/lt Bass Pro Tourney rod. I'm using 10lb trilene on it. Never caught anything more than about three lbs but it's been a good combination in tight areas.

I have the "Curadarch" version of it and I love it. Its my Jerkbait setup reel.

I've got the 51E on my crankbait rod.  Love it.  Probably one of the few reels I will never get rid of.

Been fishing my core and curado 50's a lot lately. The heavier braking and lack of xship really standout fished next to my curado 70's.

I still use my Curado 50E and Scorpion XT 1000. The Curado I use for squarebills. I also have Curado 70 and SLX MGL, but the 50E/XT and Core/Alde frame is still my favorite of the smaller Shimanos.

The Curado e series is one of the best ever made IMO. I still throw a couple 207's pretty regularly and they've been flawless all these years later.

I still have my Curado 51E. Don't use it much, but still love this little reel and I mean little reel. Now if I can just find a shallow spool(BFS) for it...

Thanks to all that answered.  Looks like there's still plenty of users.  I agree, it's one worth keeping. When I use mine it's for lighter topwater baits,  primarily the Pop R.

I love the shimanos even though im diehard abu...whats the size diff in a curado100 and a 50e.... curado fits short straight handle rods really good and ive seen the 50e 180 and up used...and ive been buying curado 100d from 60 to 100 depending on condition...is the 50 that  small...

And BETTER then a 100d

Stale KracKer, Looking at them side by side the 50E IMO is noticeably smaller than my 100B but since the 50E's on a 5'6" rod it works fine for balance and feel. IMO it's not a better reel than a bigger Curado but I'm more accurate with it on the 5'6" rod than with a full size, by today's bass fishing standards, 7' rod and a larger reel.

The 50e’s are lower profile but I prefer the footprint of the 100d and 50mg myself

The E series have a cult following (arguably deserved) resulting in a supply and demand situation driving the price up. I paid $99 for a 201 E7 on clearance and have a hard time paying msrp or above for a used one. Value of any purchase boils down to the buyer’s priorities. Your call.

I have the Curado 51E also. I did change out the handle to a longer Curado G handle, since it was the last Curado series with a straight handle.

Love my old Curado 51E, don't get much love lately, but after reading this thread, I'll be busting it out some time soon.

I have the 50e. I still love that reel. Its good looking cast great and palms great. I’m always looking to pick up another or a core 50
