New Titan X vs Pro-Angler

Featured Replies

Looking to build a real bass platform, don’t want to get into a boat so looking to stay within a kayak platform.

I have a pro angler 12 360 and about to rig it up with a torqueedo, motorguide, power poles and fish finders, but then i saw the new titan X, which is really designed with having all these accessories integrate more cleanly and space efficient, plus the titan has to be more stable than the 12 because it 4-5 inches wider.

Considering i could sell my pro angler and have money left over, would you trade the PA12 for the New titan X or keep the pro angler?

Pros for the pro angler, fins tuck against the hull whereas titan prop doesn’t, the mirage deive takes less deck space than the titan pedal system.

Pros for the titan it looks more stable and definatley more thoughtful when it comes to wiring and the 360 seat swivel.

I talked to the guy at my local kayak/tackle shop the other day, he has lots of knowledge about kayaking. Dont know how true this is but he told me a wider kayak doesnt always make it more stable he said the hull design is what makes it more/less stable.

Depends on your use case.  Old Town Sportsman PDL 120 here and I am very interested in the Titan X after the reveal.

If you're simply paddling (pedaling), I'd stick with the Hobie PA / Old Town PDL given its track record and general stock layout.

If you're looking to rig it up with a motor(s), Power Poles, etc; the Titan X considerations to integrate these feature makes it a much more compelling platform to build from IMO.  Sure you can do it with the PA too, but you may need to spend more time to make it "look nice" or accommodate everything.  The Titan X have it configured and ready to add at any time.

My wife said I should just go ahead and preorder it, haha.  But given that it's coming out in September and I don't have much hands-on experience with the platform/hull design; I think I'll wait to see what the general feedback is.  If I can find a place to trial it, it'll be even better.  The only concern I had when I watched Greg's videos was the amount of water in the hull (supposedly it was because the scupper plugs were in); but he also did have it fully rigged.

the Titan isnt even out yet.   any review would be pure speculation.  my friends titan is so heavy, and slow as hell.  he cant fight the wind or currents.   it is sad and funny to watch him lanquish behind us Hobie-ers.    i bet the Titan is hernia heavy.  but speculation.
