OK, maybe my parents did waste thier money on my college education, because I am totally confused about this fishing line thing....

I  think Roadwarrior has explained the advantages of Yo Zuri Ultra Soft enough that I am going to use it on my spinning reels..

However, I am totally confused on flourocarbon line vs. standard mono vs. braid for my baitcasting reels....

I use my baitcasters for crankbaits,  spinnerbaits, C rigs, jigs, some T-rig etc......

I use my spin reels for jigs, top waters, T- rigs,drop shot etc.....

I have been using a mixed bag of lines lately, Cajun Red, Stren, Trilene, etc...  all monos of some sort...

and I am just not happy with any of them at this point..

I used braid once, did not like it..  I thought my reel drag had quit working,, found out it was the line spinning on the reel...and digging into itself..

I have read as many of the posts as I could find on line, and choices, and everyones opinion,, but still I am confused :-? :-/

I normally use 10-14 lb test, and would like to find something in that same area, maybe with a smaller diameter, ??????  Is that possible???

I want this issue out of the way so I can go about working on the boat, and having fun winter fishing, practicing for Spring fishing!!!!!

Well it sounds like braid is for you, if your wanting a thinner diameter line. I use a peice of first aid waterproof tape to secure the braid once you tie the knot around the spool and then fill your spool like you normally would. The tape seems to hold well.I tend to fish heavier mono lb test. I like 17 lb test for spinnerbaits and I will use 20-30 lb test for jigs in heavy cover.On the other side, I use 8 lb Maxima for crankbaits. I don't have any reason to use heavier line, the fish I normally catch aren't real big my personal best is only 7.4 lbs, I just feel comfortable fishing heavier lines. :)Ivan

How long ago did you try braid?  Braided line has come a long way in the last couple of years.

I am just curious , why would you fish jigs with a spinning rod when you have a baitcasting rod to use ?Are you talking mini jigs ?Why aren't you going to use Yo Zuri soft on your baitcasters as well as your spinning gear ?

If you have been using all of those lines, why haven't you tried the Yo-Zuro Hybrid Ultra Soft?

There isn't much of a financial commitment in testing one pool. I can understand guys fishing other line, we all have our favorite, but since you haven't found yours yet, give mine a try.

Spinning tackle: #6 (11.9 lb test)

Baitcasting:  #12 (19.5 lb test)

RW, are you saying the Hybrid Ultra Soft will work just as well on the baitcasters????   If so, then I will just go with that and see how it works out for me...

Yes, it works well for me, but as I mentioned, everyone has their favorite line.

RW touts the hell out of that line, so give it a shot.  As far as braid, if you used spiderwire as your only foray into braided lines, you chose the appropriate place for it........the TRASH CAN.  If you can pick up just one more spool, try Sufix for your baitcasters.

Fishbear, only you can choose which line is best for you and it will probably take some trial and error.  Your post states that you've read a number of threads regarding different lines, so you are probably already familiar with the applications at which each line excels.  All that is left is to buy a few spools and try them out and see what works best for you.  If you need further explanations about the pros and cons of each type of line, let us know.  

Thanks guys, placing an order for the Yo Zuri, today...  gonna give that a whirl, if that does not pan out for me,, I will try the braid again...
